How to remove default gear from Strava (workaround)

I use Strava for some activity tracking and I like the My Gear section. One benefit is recording miles on running shoes to get an alert when I am approaching 300 miles on a pair. I have not found this feature on the mobile app, only on the website. I recently set a default shoe and I was unable to undo that action. As a result, walks that I took that were recorded on Strava were misattributed to my running shoes. The default setting is a radio button and like an elevator, you can push it once to turn it on, but you cannot push it again to turn it off. Here are the steps I took as a workaround to clear out the default shoes:

  • Click Add Running Shoes (add another test pair)

  • Delete that pair of shoes

As a result, the My Gear for shoes no longer has a default pair of shoes, which is my preference for now.
