How Does It Feel to Be a Problem? Being Young and Arab in America
How Does It Feel to Be a Problem?: Being Young and Arab in America by Moustafa Bayoumi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Recommended. Timely when written in 2008 and today. Good perspective of youth, of New York City, of Arab identity, of Christianity, of Islam, and how they can intersect. Moving Little Syria from lower Manhattan to Bay Ridge after the building of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel layers infrastructure and culture — perspectives like this make the book feel hyperlocal and prescient.
